Lesbianism has found a new home in Nigeria. The sinful and shameful act which God and Godly people kick against is fast gaining grounds in our country. And unlike before when it was majorly restricted to the four corners of most all-female secondary schools, some of the women we have the highest regards for now indulge in the ugly act. And the saddest part is that they don’t even give a hoot any more. They have become so blatant that they now have an ASSOCIATION OF TOP LESBIANS!
Surprised? Then wait for this: They meet once in a month somewhere in Victoria Garden City, Lekki, Lagos – and among their staunch members and promoters are some of the people you cannot imagine. There are two former senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Both of them are from the South South, but while one is still married, the other is a divorcee. The first one has the 4th alphabet beginning her name and the other the 5th. Both high society women, dressing well and looking good also excite them. Fair and dark complexioned respectively, many people are unaware of their ‘double life’ – except those who are really in the know.
In Nollywood where they also enjoy a large followership, there are seven top actresses whose first names begin with alphabets U, R, G, N, B, M and N. A popular fashion designer who shares the same first name with the respected South African musician who sang ‘Thank You Mr. D.J’ is also there; then a Calabar lady and mother of two girls who was at a time married to a controversial Igbo businessman who is into automobiles and championing the cause of Igbo people; a masculine female movie producer who is also from that part of the country and many others.
But unlike Nigeria’s first ever lesbians club which was set up then in Ikeja, Lagos and administered by a Rivers State born actress who used to live inside Wemabod Estate, this one is high profile and upscale. Always watching one another’s back and being of assistance whenever the need arises, membership is simply and strictly by recommendation. Yes! Recommendation by an existing member who can vouch for you and your absolute loyalty and dedication to the things they stand for.
A ‘sisterhood’ like no other, the rich ones among them are always assisting those that are not financially buoyant. Besides providing for those of them whose marriages just collapsed to start their lives all over, those of them in Nollywood also get funds to shoot movies regularly, which explains why they are the busiest in that sector now. Not stopping at that, they also storm their members’ movie premieres with important personalities who are unaware of the existence of the association, thus assisting them to climb the corporate and social ladders and also getting them to be financially independent.
Besides their VGC meeting venue, they sometimes sneak into another of their member’s home on Banana Island, Lagos for some emergency meetings and vital deliberations. Addressing themselves as TL (that is top lesbian), they communicate in public via sign language and according to what YES INTERNATIONAL! Magazine heard, they are currently on membership drive so as to spread their tentacles further.
