Gov. Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State, days back in Lagos, bagged the City People’s Award for the Best Governor in Youth Empowernment. The Kwara CEO was honoured at the colourful City People’s Political Excellence Awards 2014. His award was received on his behalf by his Special Adviser on Communication Strategy, Alhaji Abdulraheem Adedoyin, who promptly dedicated it to the great people of Kwara State, most especially the teeming youths that have keyed enthusiastically into the administration’s shared prosperity programmes. In giving the award to Gov. Ahmed, City People cited the governor’s inspirational programmes in gainfully engaging the youths of Kwara through revolutionary platforms, especially the nationally-acclaimed Kwara Bridge Empowerment Scheme (KWABES). The organisers noted Gov.  Ahmed’s 2000 jobs for KWABES applicants, 2000 permanent jobs for the youths, creation of data base for job recruitment, and the planned employment of 5000 people, mostly youths, this year.  Accepting the award on behalf of Gov. Ahmed, Adedoyin spoke eloquently about the key achievements of the Kwara CEO, especially in the area of youth engagement and with particular emphasis on the innovative Kwara Bridge Empowerment Scheme (KWABES). Alluding to the recent change of political party by the governor, Adedoyin told the audience: ” We have changed political platform in Kwara State, but the ideas and energy that have driven governance under Maigida, as Kwarans fondly call their governor, remain unchanged and in fact reinvigorated. And as the governor has said very often, Kwara remains firmly in the hands of the tested political leadership under Senator Bukola Saraki.”
