Some celebrities, entertainers, fashion enthusiasts and business people have been invited to grace the upcoming Africa Fashion Week Nigeria (AFWN) taking place in the month of May. Africa Fashion Week Nigeria is an off-shoot of the hugely successful Africa Fashion Week London. AFWN will be witnessed by people from all walks of life and thousands of potential customers that have been specifically chosen to come and savour breath-taking designs and affordable wears from Nigerian designers. According to Ronke Ademiluyi, the founder of AFW London, the organisers of AFW Nigeria: “AFW Nigeria believes in emerging talents and our core aim is providing visibility, platforms for new talents, who would otherwise not have the means to gather national attention and awareness on their own”.  She further stated that for creativity to grow, there needs to be a platform that celebrates, supports and contributes to its growth. And that is what gave birth to the idea of Africa Fashion Week. “We have provided the platform and invited the people to come and see these designs. Now, fashion designers should come and register by calling 07088800866 or visiting www.africafashionweeknigeria.com.”  AFWN will take place on May 17 and 18 at the prestigious Intercontinental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Meanwhile, the organisers have invited some top personalities to be their patrons. Among these people are Senator Daisy Danjuma, Chief Molade Okoya-Thomas, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa and Mrs. Folorunsho Alakija. The AFW Nigeria will end with a gala fashion show, with veteran designer, Hajia Abba Folawiyo.  AFW Nigeria is supported by the Lagos State Government, FOREO, FADAN, ST Eve’s Media, NNTD. The event is being organised in collaboration with Abiola Okoya of Mibod Global Resources and is produced by Sola Oyebade of Mahogany Productions and Toyin Lawani of Tiannah’s Styling Academy.
