As you read this, Ogbonna, the 32-year old son of the immediate past Governor of Abia State, now a Senator, Theodore Ahamefula Orji, is cooling his heels in one of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s cells in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
The young man and his friend, Kelvin Ilonah, YES INTERNATIONAL! Magazine learnt, were arrested in a nightclub in Abuja, at about 5am, on Saturday, December 8, 2018. Both of them had stormed the club on Friday night to catch some fun.
But unknown to them, danger was lurking outside. Thus, as soon as they stepped out, they were immediately arrested. And later taken to their apartment in one of the highbrow neighborhoods where they allegedly pay N13 million per annum for a thorough search.
The young Orji’s offence was that part of the N27 billion which his father allegedly laundered was traced to him. Besides being arrested, alongside his friend, his Range Rover, estimated to have cost him N100 million, as well as a 2017 Toyota Prado jeep, were also seized.
Ogbonna, whose father the EFCC quizzed not long ago over the same issue, was still being detained as at the time of writing this. He’s equally said to have given some useful information to the anti graft agency.
