Thirty nine principal and 81 vice principals have been appointed for public secondary schools in Ogun State by the state government, with a charge to them to maintain discipline for effective school administration and efficient service delivery.
Chairman of the State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM). Chief (Mrs.) Olabosipo Ogunsan during the induction ceremony of the new school administrators in Abeokuta, said the appointments were based on merit, seniority and year of certification.
She charged them to be pro-active in the discharge of their duties and not to condone acts of indiscipline and examination malpractices.
‘’Being a principal, you must be accountable for everything put in your care and try your best to be active in all the responsibilities and task ahead. No act of indiscipline, examination malpractices should be condoned,’’ she said.
The Permanent Secretary of the commission, Mrs Olabisi Akinnuga advised the new officers to work hand in hand with the Commission to facilitate initiatives that would promote the teaching profession and achieve the set objectives of government in the education sector.
State President, All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), Chief Olatunji Ogundele, urged the newly appointed administrators to justify their appointments by displaying high sense of dedication and commitment to duties.
The appointments bring the total number of principals and vice principals appointed by the Senator Ibikunle Amosun led administration since assumption of office to 323 and 737 respectively.
