81 year-old publisher of Vanguard Newspapers, Sam Amuka Pemu, was on Saturday, June 4, 2016 robbed at his Adebayo Mokolu, Anthony Village, Lagos home.
The robbers, said to be five in number, dispossessed him of both local and foreign currency as well as roughened him up.
Uncle Sam, like the veteran journalist is widely known, was meant to travel to South Africa this weekend. Unfortunately, the robbers struck around 1.30am and disrupted everything.
Other than money, the robbers also went away with his phones, electronic gadgets as well as other valuables.
The robbers were said to have scaled his fence to gain entry, and thereafter used their chisel and saw to wreak havoc.
Mr. Amuka Pemu was later rushed to a nearby hospital. Although he’s since been discharged, with dignitaries, security agents trooping into his home to empathize with him.
Efforts are also on to track down the robbers.
