Senator Andy Uba, from the look of things, has begun working silently on becoming the next Governor of Anambra State.
Uba, who currently represents Anambra South in the Senate, just crossed over to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
Hitherto in the PDP (Peoples Democratic Party), he told his supporters that he was dumping PDP for APC because of the latter’s ideology and focus which said he needed to tap into to provide quality representation to his constituents. However, our findings revealed that it’s because he’s still interested in governing Anambra State. And nothing more.
Andy Uba, it would be recalled was at some point, one of Nigeria’s most powerful politicians. This was during the time of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, whom he served as his Special Adviser on Domestic Matters. He was so powerful then that his younger brother, Chris attempted to unseat the then Governor of Anambra, Dr. Chris Ngige, now Minister of Labour.
Andy, afterwards, eventually became the Governor, but for a very short time as the court kicked him out over the way and manner he emerged. And ever since he’s been jostling and strategizing to reclaim the position. So much so that as he decamped, he even reeled out the names of the same Ngige whom his brother humiliated so much, relying on his influence and Chief George Muoghalu as some of the quality personalities in his new party.
The silent polygamist who joined APC in his homestead of Uga, Aguata LGA of Anambra State, no doubt, still has some hurdles to cross – even with all he has done so far. The incumbent Governor, Chief Willie Obiano is seeking a second term. Also interested in the position is Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah of Capital Oil, among several others.
Born Emmanuel Nnamdi Uba on December 14, 1958 in Enugu State, the heavily loaded politico used to be based in Canada until his return to Nigeria. And for over 15 years now, he’s been playing big as far as Nigeria’s political terrain is concerned.
