The management of Alteco Chemical PTE Limited, producers of the popular Alteco 110 Super Glue, has raised an alarm over the faking of their products by some dubious and fraudulent businessmen.
However, to ensure that the anomaly does not continue, the company, days back, raided hideouts of some of these fakers in Onitsha, Anambra State; Aba, Abia State and Lagos.
According to Alteco’s media consultant, Prince Ifeanyi Dike: ‘Over 100 shops were raided on Friday, with fake Alteco super glue worth millions of Naira confiscated in Onitsha, Aba and Lagos. The raid was carried out in collaboration with the Police, after obtaining an Anton Piller Order from the court.
Anton Piller Order, according to YES INTERNATIONAL! Magazine findings, is a court order which requires a defendant to allow a plaintiff access to his premises so as to obtain evidence, and usually without any warning.
‘So far, six different companies faking Alteco 110 super glue, with designs that deceive unsuspecting consumers have been sued’, Prince Dike revealed.
Adding that ‘counterfeiting practices have a far reaching impact on all facets of life, especially as the materials and manufacturing processes do not follow standards’.
Commending the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) for the good work they are doing as well as their determination to rid the market of fake, adulterated and sub-standard products, he suggested stiffer penalties for the culprits in order to deter others from engaging in such unscrupulous acts.
In ending, he doled out thanks to the leadership of Onitsha market for their support and co-operation during the raid.
Alteco 110 Super Glue is the número uno in its sector and is widely accepted because of its high quality, durability and good name built over the years. Which these fakers are trying to latch on to.
