Construction of rural roads in all the 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and the 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) of Ogun State, is to commence as soon as the report of the bid process is submitted by the end of the month.
The state Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, made this disclosure at a meeting of leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), held at the party secretariat, Abiola Way, Abeokuta.
Amosun, who said the bid process is ongoing, added that “the names of successful bidders would be published and the contractors will be mobilised immediately.”
The governor reassured the people of the state of his administration’s commitment to ensure the completion of all ongoing projects across the state.
Speaking on the challenges facing the LCDAs, Amosun said this was expected, because the government is pioneering what has not been done before, stating further that the expected development cannot happen overnight.
He said that his administration is presently laying the foundation for future development of the state, expressing optimism that in few years to come, the challenges will be fully surmounted.
The governor also spoke on the need to sensitise people to register for the ongoing voters’ cards registration, being conducted by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), noting that this is to capture those who could not obtain their voters cards in the last exercise.
Speaking earlier, the APC Chairman in the state, Alhaji Tajudeen Lemboye said the party will soon commence a sensitisation tour to the 20 LGAs and 37 LCDAs in the state, adding that registration of party members will commence soon.
