‘HE’S VERY SWEET’ – Bride
How did you meet your husband?
He was friends with my brother, Anselm Jnr. But first of all, our parents have known each other for a long time. We, however, never met ourselves as kids. Only our parents knew each other. So, when I was in Canada, my brother met Charles through my dad and they’ve been hanging out and became friends and surprisingly we started talking, then the relationship started from there.
What year specifically did this happen?
The relationship started 2010, but theirs happened like 2009.
So, how long is or was your courtship?
Well, in December, it will be exactly three years.
What attracted you to him?
He’s very funny, he’s very caring, he’s the kind of man that knows how to treat a lady, he’s really sweet and just knowing how we started…we started off as friends and during the course of the relationship, the friendship was still there. So, it was more of him being himself basically; not hiding anything. I will just say funny, caring, sweet and just being the kind of friend and partner any woman would want to have by her side (Laughs).
What do you like most about him?
Ah! His charisma, his charisma. Yeah! That’s the most thing I like about him.
What don’t you like about him?
Well, everyone comes with their flaws, so I can’t really say exactly for one what I don’t like about him. Everyone comes with their flaws and no one is perfect.
What’s your dream for this union?
My dream basically is that we remain as strong as we are right now and we raise the kind of kids that will grow in the Word and be respected by people and achieve their dreams and practically stay on the path which God has set for them and for us too.
What kind of family are you looking at?
Any time I say two kids, people scream and say I should ask for more. So, whatever number of kids God gives me, I know He will always provide to take care of them. Whatever number God gives…(Laughs).
How did you feel that your mother, late Pastor Connie Madubuko wasn’t be around to see you get married?
To be honest, the first time she passed, the thought of it was not very pleasant, because that’s what I and her talked about all the time. But I’m just happy that at least she was present during my court wedding, so that’s what makes me relaxed. At least she wanted to see me married and she was there to actually see me get married and I think that’s the most important thing. And I know it would turn out as beautiful as she would have wanted it to be.
Tell us about Velma…
She is naturally a happy person, loves to play, funny, really stands firm in what she believes in, God fearing and she believes with God all things are possible.
Tell us some of the schools you attended…
I attended Avi – Cenna International School for my secondary and primary and I did my university education in University of Windses in Canada…
Do you mind telling us your age?
I’m in my 20s.
How does it feel to have a pastor as a father?
First of all, I will say it’s a blessing because every day I learn something new from him. He’s the kind of father who practically acts on what he preaches. Even, there are sometimes you look at him and you are like you are just too nice (Laughs), you are too kind. He can overlook certain things, but it just let’s us know how strong he’s in the Lord and Word. He practically made us the kind of kids we are today. He’s just an amazing dad, let me just put it that way.
‘HER TYPE IS NOT EASY TO FIND’ – Groom
How did you guys meet?
Wow! Come to think of it; it feels like we met just yesterday. I met Velma through her brother, Anselm.
How long was your courtship?
We dated for almost three years and we’ve been inseparable since then.
What attracted you to each other?
Hmmm! The attraction started once we spoke on the phone. We clicked instantly. She’s a very funny person and wise too. A girl like Velma is not easy to find.
Who is Charles Oladipo Williams?
Charles Oladipo Williams is a man of integrity; I don’t like to look down on people because I believe everybody is special. I run a real estate company in Lagos and I am a family – oriented person, and I believe that family comes first. But I can be silly at times, and I am sure my wife can confirm that.
What do you love most about Velma?
I love a lot of things about her. Her smile, sense of humour, her silly moments. She’s the most honest and trustworthy person I’ve ever met. I also love that she’s strong and industrious.
What don’t you like about her?
Hmmm! She has her flaws, but that’s what makes her who she is. Nobody is perfect.
What’s your dream for this union?
My dream is that we stay together till the end and raise amazing children; I pray for the grace to have all our heart desires.
