Tricia Eseigbe-Kerry’s child sexual abuse, protection and advocacy project, The Psychologist On The Move, was launched last year. The Psychologist is a nationwide (covering 36 states) public awareness campaign programme on child sexual abuse. It will address and enlighten our communities about pedophiles and ways to prevent the sexual abuse of children. It is also intended to encourage victims of child sexual abuse to come out and tell their stories. For several months now, The Psychologist On The Move team has been touring the country and recently her effort in the fight against sexual abuse was recognized by the Benue State First Lady in the State House, Makurdi. Mrs. Yemisi Suswam presented Tricia Eseigbe-Kerry with a Special Award of Excellence for the fight against child sexual abuse in Nigeria on behalf of the state and people of Benue State. Also present at the special award recognition ceremony was the Benue State Commissioner of Police, CP. Adams Audu, representing the Nigeria Police, accompanied by wife, Mrs. Raula Audu Adams, a strong supporter of the project and the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Elizabeth Allagh. Her Excellency, Arc. (Mrs.) Yemisi Suswam while presenting the award stated that it’s bad enough to have a present generation that is morally bankrupt and even worse to sow a seed of bitterness and pollution in the next generation. She firmly urged parents, police, law makers to join hands with The Psychologist to criminalize and eradicate child sexual abuse in Nigeria. She also commended the Nigeria Police for partnering The Psychologist team and encouraged them to continue the wonderful works they have been doing on security in Benue State. Accepting the award, Tricia Eseigbe-Kerry, thanked the state government and people of the state for the love and wonderful reception she got. She equally encouraged victims of child sexual abuse to stay positive in the fight against the evil act, believing that justice will surely come to them some day. She also called on the people across the country to visit The Psychologist website – www.boldfaces.org to report any case of child abuse or molestation.
