The romance is over! It ended yesterday, Thursday, February 25, 2016, and at exactly 6.28pm, following the shocking resignation of controversial Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh.
Announcing his exit on his Twitter account, Oliseh had said it was ‘Due to contract violations, lack of support, unpaid wages, benefits to my players, asst. coaches & myself…’
But trust soccer-loving Nigerians, they’ve been blasting the ex-Super Eagles player turned coach since the news broke. Below are what some of them said on Facebook: ‘Goodbye to bad rubbish. We won’t miss you’, Richard Akinola.
For Tunde Mo’Aguda, it is ‘Thank Goodness. End of drama’.
According to Angela Agoawike, ‘What an incompetent, mouthy non-performer! Now it’s back to Super Sports where he does nothing but criticize others’.
And for Ahmadu Tijjani Lawal, ‘Sure! The clown never deserved the job…’
Oliseh, an ex-international, succeeded Stephen Keshi as coach of the Super Eagles. His tenure, however, witnessed so many controversies – from his fall out with former Eagles captain, Vincent Enyeama to Nigeria’s poor outing at CHAN, which led to his dubbing his critics as being insane to also his incessant bickering with his employers, NFF, the podka-dot faced dude was constantly in the news.
Quick-tempered and undiplomatic, YES INTERNATIONAL! Magazine was reliably informed that the Amaju Pinnick-led Nigeria Football Federation which announced his coming amidst fanfare didn’t see this coming – especially after ‘banning’ him from making volatile comments and always getting clearance from Amodu Shuaibu before taking certain steps.
