Just hours to his proposed 2-day visit to Lagos State where elaborate plans have already been made, President Muhammadu Buhari had cancelled the trip!
The presidential visit which would have seen him spending Monday, May 23 and Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at the Centre of Excellence will no longer happen.
Conflicting reasons, already, are now trailing it. With alleged medical challenge as one of them.
The Presidency, meanwhile, has blamed it on ‘scheduling difficulties’. Adding that the visit will now come after June ending and by which time Muslim faithful would have been through with their fasting month of Ramadan.
The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, a former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in the state (under ex-Governor Bola Tinubu) will stand in for him.
He will also commission some of the projects lined up for Buhari whose billboards, banners, etc now dot most strategic places in Lagos.
On Third Mainland Bridge for instance, his photographs and that of the Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, with messages like Welcome To Lagos, etc, were very noticeable on Sunday afternoon. As a matter of fact, the work was still on-going when YES INTERNATIONAL! Magazine passed through there.
