Davina Achema, the hard working lady who doubles as the CEO of Davina Secrets, is unputdownable. Apart from running a successful bead making business in Lagos, Davina, whose other name is Patience Achema, has been busy improving her career in music. For the records, Davina’s romance with music started years ago, when she was performing at an event and unknown to her, the then MD of Nigerian Breweries Plc, Eze Festus Odimegwu, was in the crowd. Obviously impressed by her breath taking performance, enlisted her for Star Trek in 2010, after which Star Mega Jam followed. With these two platforms, the once underrated Davina did not only improve her art, but was also opportuned to perform on the same stage with foreign entertainment big wigs like T-Pain, Busta Ryhmes, etc. Her career witnessed a turn-around because the opportunity actually helped sharpen her style, belief and choice of music. Ever since, she has remained focused, not allowing her sudden rise to stardom distracts her. She even puts in more effort in making her music better class. Interestingly, she has been able to carve an identity for herself, after releasing two successful albums, Adura and Dreams, both 10 track albums. In a chat with On Point!, the Conflict Resolution undergraduate of National Open University, revealed that she is currently working on re-launching her brand with the release of four new singles. This was how she captured it: “I have been working so hard to reposition the Davina brand in the last couple of years, which was why I took a break. But my come back will see me releasing four singles before the year runs out. For now, I have finished work on my yet to be officially released single, Femi, and I must say this, Femi portrays the African woman in me which I want to showcase before the world”. Throwing more light on her gold afro hairstyle, which she has been known with all these years, she said: “I do afro-pop which is an African-oriented music, so I need to wear a look that portrays my kind of music. Aside that, the gold hairstyle is my own way of expressing beauty and panache”.’ Meanwhile, the Igala born songstress also told this reporter that she is responsible for her current productions, which now categorizes her among Nigeria’s female music producers. “I actually produced my new single, Femi”. Asked the reason for that, she said: “Most producers want to make me sound different and at some point, I saw that they were forcing me to do something that’s totally different from my style, so I decided to take the bull by the horn. Hence, the reason I learnt music production”. She promised not to disappoint her fans who over the years have put so much belief in her.
