Music superstars, Don Jazzy and Olamide, are at war – and interestingly, both of them chose Friday, January 1, 2016 to make this public.
The two rave acts decided to wash their dirty linen in public (at Ayo Animashaun’s The Headies Awards) where their artistes were nominated in the same category – Next Rated, which comes with a brand new car. Reekado Banks, from Don Jazzy’s Mavin Records, was declared winner against Olamide’s boy, Lil Kesh, and all hell was let loose.
Olamide immediately stormed out of the Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos venue shouting ‘k’ oni da fun Iya anybody’, meaning it won’t be okay with someone’s mother. And firing back, Don Jazzy rather than ignore him, said ‘Olamide, if you want the car, come and take it.’
Expectedly, their fans took sides and thus ‘disrupted’ the awards ceremony for sometime. Olamide’s crew even filed out of the hall with him – to the extent that when normalcy returned, and he was adjudged the winner of the Song of the Year, he was nowhere to be found.
And still fuming and insisting that his boy out to win the Next Rated award, he rushed to his Twitter again, blasting Don Jazzy: ‘F..k u don jazzy…..F..k ur whole generation. I am not d banj…Bastard. Omo ale forming humble.’
Both acts have been trending since, with many insisting that being older, Don Jazzy should have exhibited more maturity by totally ignoring Olamide.
