The literary world has just lost another giant.
Buchi Emecheta, author of popular novels like Second Class Citizen, The Bride Price and The Joys of Motherhood, is no more.
Aged 72, she died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, January 25, 2017.
A native of Ibusa in Delta State, her burial details were not yet released as at the time of writing this.
The literary world, especially her colleagues and admirers, meanwhile, have continued to mourn her, heaping tons and tons of encomiums on her.
Mrs. Florence Onyebuchi Emecheta was a mother of five. Married to Sylvester Onwordi, the marriage was not only turbulent but also ended on a sour note.
Paradoxically, it was amidst the storms of matrimony that she took to writing which ultimately earned her both fame and fortune.
Decorated with an OBE (Order of the British Empire), she lived most of her life in the United Kingdom, where she also breathed her last.
