The rigours of Usaka Uyo, Akwa Ibom State jungle are beginning to tell on the female contestants in the TV reality show as Kofya Brown, a 25-year-old became the first contender to be evicted from Gulder Ultimate Search 9, with a prize money of one million naira. She failed the first test of Christopher Okagbue, one of the three Gulder Ultimate Search 9 Gatekeepers, thus ending her quest for the Gatekeeper’s fortune.
Kofya, who has a 7-year-old daughter, named Jessica, whom she described as her best friend, said one of the reasons she entered for Gulder Ultimate Search 9 was to use the prize money to take care of Jessica.
In her final moments as one of the 12 contenders, tearful Kofya said concerning her jewel: “And to Jessica, don’t mind my tears, mummy loves you. Just know that even if I’m out here, I’ll still continue to do my best to give you what you deserve in life, okay”.
Even though Kofya, a model and an artiste who hailed from Cross River State and a Computer Science undergraduate from the University of Benin was the first contender to be evicted, she smiled to the bank with N1 million.
Also, Ojueromi Ayo, a 22-year-old Ondo State indigene who is currently a student of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Lagos, had her dreams cut short as she became the second female contestant to leave the jungle. Her plan to win the prize money has faded, but her dream of becoming a great presenter who will own her own programme some day is still very intact.
