The council boss of Ifo local government, Mr. Wole Enilolobo, is currently enmeshed in a series of fraud allegations running into millions of naira. The financial mess, GP learnt, has gotten to the knowledge of the LG councillors who are now bent on getting to the root of the matter. This, we also learnt, has gotten the attention of the Governor, Sen. Ibikunle Amosun, who is doing all possible to appease the warring parties. Allegations levelled against the council boss include the transfer of August 2013 allocation to a personal account at Zenith Bank to the tune of N50 million, purchase of certain properties in Abeokuta, which includes a farm; salaries paid to workers of the council was discovered to be N37 million as against the N47 million recorded since the inception of their administration. According to the aggrieved council lawmakers, over N900 million remains unaccounted for, as there are speculations that some notable party chiefs, including a commissioner who was a former speaker of the State House of Assembly, are in the know of the scam. As it stands, a human rights group has been reported to have visited the council, asking for the council’s expenditure and revenue documents.
