Temporary freedom eventually came the way of media mogul, High Chief Raymond Dokpesi today – even though he was granted bail yesterday by the EFCC after spending some days with them.
Dokpesi, founder of AIT and Raypower, was invited by the EFCC for allegedly collecting N2.1 billion from the embattled former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki, rtd. The money was said to be part of the billions budgeted for arms procurement under ex President Goodluck Jonathan which President Muhammadu Buhari is still not satisfied with the way it was spent.
However, Dokpesi, in his response, claimed he was only paid for publicity and media services rendered to PDP during the last elections and nothing more. Maintaining that he’s now toughened by the whole experience in an interview he granted his station, before being allowed to return to his Abuja home, how ever, he first made available two sureties, believed to be high ranking government officers. His international passport was also seized.
The EFCC investigation is still on going. And it is the outcome that will determine what next.
