This is official. The matriarch of the Awolowo family, Mrs. Hannah Idowu Dideolu Awolowo, who died on Saturday, September 19, will be buried on Wednesday, November 25, 2015, in Ikenne, Ogun State. The reason, YES INTERNATIONAL! Magazine gathered, is because that is the day she would have clocked 100 years.
The family therefore wants to bury her in a remarkable way and on a remarkable day. As a matter of fact, plans were already afoot to give her a resounding 100 birthday celebration before death decreed otherwise.
Mama, like she was fondly addressed, will be buried beside her great husband, Chief Jeremiah Obafemi Awolowo, who summed her up as his ‘ Jewel of Inestimable Value’.
Meanwhile, the Awolowos’ Ikenne home has been wearing the toga of a Mecca of sort since her demise. From ex Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan to Governors Ibikunle Amosun and Akinwunmi Ambode, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Barrister Taiwo Adeoluwa to Otunba Gbenga Daniel, sympathisers have not stopped pouring in to extend their condolences.
The Ogun State Government has also assured of her total support as regards giving Mama H.I.D a befitting burial.
