It is no longer news that P-Square, whose mum died weeks ago, was finally laid to rest on Thursday, August 2, 2012. During her lifetime, Mrs. Josephine Okoye, On Point! learnt, was a very generous woman and had touched different people in different ways. One of those who testified to her generosity and kindheartedness is fast rising singer and producer, Harrysong, who also told this reporter that he was almost as confused as Peter and Paul Okoye when he heard the sad news of her demise. ‘I was in the studio recording when I heard the news of Mrs. Okoye’s death, and
it almost ruined my recording session. But instead of being lost in pains, after a few hours, I tried to put myself together and decided to do a tribute song in her honour.’ Contrary to the rumour making the rounds that he remixed the song, Beautiful Onyinye to enrich his pocket, Harrysong said. ‘I only did that song as a tribute to Mrs. Okoye, due to the love she showered on me the first time she set her eyes on me. I had come to visit Peter and Paul, to help out in one of their home studio sessions when their mom came into the same studio, sighted me and despite meeting me for the first time, she welcomed me and even asked if I had eaten. I was surprised. If you listen to one of the verses of that song, you will hear me narrating my experience the first time I met her. The memories are still just like yesterday in my heart. So, for those who think I actually did that song to enrich myself, that’s a wrong impression, because even the Okoye brothers were consulted before and according to Paul, who called me when he heard that song for the first time, he said the song reminds him of the cherished moments he spent with his late mom. I do not want to join issues with anybody, I just did what my mind told me was right. Besides, in life, it’s impossible to please everybody’.
