Immediate-past governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has finally opened up on the allegation that went haywire soon after he lost a re-election that he bought a N50 million bed for the new Government House he built in the State.
Defending himself today when he appeared before the Senate for his ministerial screening, Fayemi stated that nothing could be farther from the truth.
In his words, the cerebral politician said: ‘Anyone who knows me and knows my frugality knows that I will not buy a N50 million bed.’
It would be recalled that the news was all over the place soon after Fayemi was trounced by Ayo Fayose in the Ekiti guber election. Interestingly, Fayemi said very little then concerning the allegation until today when he appeared before the Senate as one of Presidential Muhammadu Buhari’s ministers-to-be.
Nine others were also screened today – and among them were Senator Udo Udoma, Chief Audu Ogbe, Alhaji Lai Mohammed and Hajia Bukar Ibrahim.
