As the countdown to the commencement of two premium shows organised by integrated telecoms provider, Globacom, begins, artistes on the bill of the shows, have promised Nigerians in various cities that will host the events of endless entertainment. The two shows, a musical concert tagged Glo Slide and Bounce and Glo Laffta Fest, a comedy version, kicked off on August 29, in the ancient city of Ibadan and on August 30, 2015, in Benin-City. Speaking on the shows, popular comedian and one of the comperes, Okey Bakassi, stated that the “two Glo shows are a combination of music, dance and comedy and the synergy the artistes are bringing to the shows will leave indelible marks in the entertainment repertoires of the audience. Whoever misses any of the shows, I can authoritatively say, will be missing a huge opportunity to meet the best of the Nigerian artistes and some foreign talents”. On his part, one of the artistes performing, Wande Coal, who spoke to a cross section of the media in Lagos, said “Nigerians are set to witness the best of entertainment as the Glo Slide and Bounce concert and Glo Laffta Fest are not just loaded, but are pregnant with fun.
“The beauty of it all is that the shows will be rotating in the different locations weekly and for the 11 weeks that the two shows will run, nobody will have a dull moment. I promise you that it’s gonna be fun like never before”, he added. While unveiling the shows last week, Globacom promised that Slide and Bounce concert and Laffta Fest “will redefine showbiz and change the perception of entertainment in the country as the audiences will be left with impressive and lasting impressions.
“The shows are all encompassing. They are designed primarily for the enjoyment of our subscribers in Ibadan, Benin, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Ijebu Ode, Abeokuta, Ikeja, Ikorodu, Egbeda, Surulere and Victoria Island. The two shows will run on Saturdays and Sundays in the locations mentioned above with the Slide and Bounce coming up mainly on Saturdays and Laffta Fest holding mainly on Sundays”, the company explained. Artistes billed to perform at the shows include PSquare, Wizkid, Flavour, D’banj, Wande Coal, Korede Bello, MI, Burna Boy, Bez, Dija and Edem Kakee from Ghana, and Sessime from Benin Republic, at Slide and Bounce concert, with the likes of Okey Bakassi, Gbenga Adeyinka and Jimmie De Hype as anchor men. The three Aces of Comedy, Basketmouth, Bovi and AY, will anchor Glo Laffta Fest, which will also feature Helen Paul, Dan De Humorous, I Go Dye, Seyi Law, Funny Bone, Osama and many more. The sensational Ugandan, Salvador, will also perform in the Abuja, Lagos and Port Harcourt editions of the comedy show. To mount the juxe box at the two shows, Globacom further disclosed that ‘scratch masters’ such as Jimmy Jatt, DJ Neptune, DJ XGee, DJ Spinali, DJ Switch and DJ Yor would dish out kinetic tunes for the enjoyment of the people. To attend Slide and Bounce, subscribers are to use up to N2, 000 airtime in one month and text ‘YES’ and their preferred location to 30188. For example, ‘YES IBADAN’ to 30188 while for Laffta Fest, Glo subscribers are to use up to N3,000 airtime in a month and text ‘LOL’ and preferred location of the show they wish to attend to 33001. For example,’LOL BENIN’ to 33001.
