A recent survey reveals that journalists, despite being classified as endangered species, are under-celebrated. Going by this survey, it is only reasonable to commend the organizers of Nigeria Media Nite Out Awards who have been rewarding men and women of the Fourth Estate of The Realm since 2006. As the event is about to kick off for year 2016, in commemoration of its tenth anniversary, there are a couple of pre-event activities lined up before the D-day in September. It includes the official unveiling of the new award plaques of the 10th edition which will hold on Thursday, July 28, 2016. According to Sola Olugbemiro, Publisher of Access Weekly and the brain behind the event, “This is a brand new dimension to celebrate the 10th anniversary. This year’s edition of the awards ceremony will hold in September, but before then we shall be unveiling the special 10th anniversary plaques to our friends in the media, come July 28. This year’s edition promises to be different and we have gone a notch higher by bringing on board upscale PR firm, Redline FCB and Zinto. In our usual manner, this year’s edition will parade A-list personalities from the media industry, corporate organizations and politicians who have played active roles in strengthening their industries. Delta, Ondo, Borno and Kogi States have participated in the past and this time we are accommodating more states. Zenith Bank being the official banker of the event has remained a partner since 2006; UBA, Access, GTB, Diamond, First and FCMB Banks have given their support in the past and are not disappointing this time. Financial Reporting Commission, Sifax Group, Power Horse, Flour Mills, Nigerian German Chemical, INTEL are all throwing weight behind us this year. In conclusion, we are also happy to announce to you that our colleagues in the media have promised to give us the necessary support all through this year’s activities which will kick off on July 28’’.
