Nigeria’s Next Generation Network, Globacom, has added popular music television channel, MTV Base to the broadcast stations showing Dance with Peter, a Reality TV dance competition sponsored by the company, which is currently running on major channels in Africa.
Globacom disclosed in Lagos, recently that MTV Base will broadcast the show on Sundays from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. starting from Sunday, October 3.
The music channel has therefore joined Africa Independent Television (AIT) and Africa Magic which are already running the reality show. Africa Magic Urban (Channel 153 on DSTV) airs the show on Saturdays from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., while AIT broadcasts it every Sunday from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The debut episode of the programme was aired last weekend and showed the highlights of the auditions held in Abuja, Nigeria and Accra, Ghana.
The company said that the second episode to be aired this weekend would feature Port Harcourt and Benin auditions adding that it would be a highly entertaining and action-packed hour, highlighting the battle by hundreds of dancers to impress the judges, Peter Okoye, Kafayat Shafau Ameh, popularly known as Kaffy, and Don Flexx, enough to scale through to the finals of the contest.
Viewers would also see the three judges of the show making efforts to woo the best talents to join their respective teams.
Globacom disclosed that one such contestant was a lady contestant from Port Harcourt who displayed such sophisticated dance skills and incredible stunts that left even Kaffy, a Guinness Book record holder for dance, in admiration. Kaffy confessed she was stunned by the lady’s talent. Viewers will have the opportunity to see who she finally chooses as mentor.
Whoever emerges winner of the show will go home with a brand new Toyota RAV 4 sports utility vehicle, N3million cash prize and the rare opportunity of featuring in PSquare’s next music video while the first and second runners-up will receive a Honda Civic car with N2million and a Kia Rio car with N1million respectively.
