Albeit temporarily, former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Chief Godswill Akpabio, is now a free man – after a two-day marathon interrogation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
A lawyer and activist, Leo Ekpeyong, had petitioned the EFCC and Presidency alleging that Akpabio, now a Senator and also the Senate Minority Leader, mismanaged the State’s N118.1 billion during his tenure as a Governor.
The EFCC immediately swung into action quizzing Akpabio on Friday and Saturday. He was however allowed to return home on Sunday. Even as watchers and followers of the alleged monumental fraud story await the outcome of EFCC’s investigations.
