PRESS STATEMENT
KACHIKWU WHAT ARE YOU DOING?
I don’t know whether Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu the APC chieftain and the Minister of State for Petroleum Dr. Ibe Kachikwu really understand that every policy of government must first consider the interest of the masses, before any other interest of a few people.
Now, we still have not solved the problem of scarcity of fuel (petrol), we are already increasing the price of fuel at a time when Nigerians are still facing hard times from an acute fuel scarcity period.
This is no different from what Diezani Allison-Madueke (former Minister of Petroleum) did on January 1st 2012. Are we sure that Dr. Ibe Kachikwu is actually telling the truth that the three refineries in Kaduna, Port Harcourt and Warri are working?
I do not support this increase at this time because we have waited patiently for the budget to be signed, we are yet to secure the transportation of fuel to its various supposed destinations in Nigeria, we are yet to see the implementation of the budget, we have not considered the minimum wage of labour which is due for an upward increase, we want to punish the masses of this country by an abrupt increase of petrol price.
This will lead to immediate inflation, because already transport prices have risen by virtue of this new increase of petrol to N145.
I implore the Federal Government to reverse the price back to the N86.50 per litre price of petrol.
Signed
MOHAMMED FAWEHINMI, ESQ.
