The indefinite strike embarked upon by the Nigerian Labour Congress on Monday, May 16, 2016 has been called off.
The decision was taken after an emergency held by NLC’s National Executive Committee in Abuja today.
The NLC had gone on strike following the upping of the fuel price from N86.50 to N145 by the Federal Government. And after both of them were unable to reach a compromise.
APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki waded in at some point, begging the labour leaders to return to the negotiation table. Which is what they will obviously do now.
Not securing the support of PENGASSEN, NUPENG, etc; as well as the factionalisation of NLC by Aliyu Wabba and Joseph Ajero equally affected the strike.
