The unending crisis rocking the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress took another dimension last week as the Appeal Committee sent to the state by National Working Committee of the party was somewhat taken by surprise at the level of immaturity and violent tendencies displayed by the groups allegedly loyal to the Governor and Aremo Segun Osoba, comprising National Assembly members at the Upper and Lower Houses. The meeting, held at the Mitros Hall, opposite the Presidential Lodge, almost turned into a brawling arena where blows were exchanged, clothes torn, while many scampered to safety. Political pundits, while analyzing the event and the aftermath, were quick to submit that the unending feud may cost the Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun his second term ticket, because, from all indications, he does not control the structure of the party and his major antagonists have a record of being progressives from inception and are not used to jumping ship. Still waiting for the decision of the National Working Committee, there are strong indications that the Governor, if not given the ticket, may seek solace in Accord Party as there are already rumours of defection, if the crisis is not quickly nipped in the bud.
