The unending crisis in the Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, under the leadership of Engr. Bayo Dayo (loyal to controversial business mogul, Buruji Kashamu) has taken another ugly dimension. GP findings revealed that former Federal House of Representatives member and a gubernatorial hopeful in the state, Hon. Kayode Amusan, has pulled out of the group. Inside sources revealed that Amusan was dropped at a meeting held at Kashamu’s residence on Sunday, December 8, in Ijebu Igbo, Ogun State. Kashamu was said to have openly castigated and described Amusan as being “incapable, ill-prepared, stingy and disloyal to be the party”. However, sources close to the Jelili Kayode Amusan for Governor Group whispered to GP that the real reason for the duo of Amusan and Kashamu’s separation was Amusan’s refusal to allegedly swear an oath of allegiance and that Kashamu’s financial demands were becoming ‘ridiculous’. This refusal was said to have led Kashamu to announce Sikirulai Olawale Ogundele as the PDP flag bearer in the coming governorship election. Amusan is also vowing to contest in the PDP, with or without Buruji’s support. The crisis is reported to have started consuming individuals, as the state Vice Chairman, Chief Soledolu, said to be a loyalist of Amusan, was removed and replaced with former House of Assembly member, Leye Odunjo. The crisis rocking the party has degenerated to the extent that the group loyal to Amusan has started accusing Kashamu of deceit and swindling aspirants, with references to the last elections where Kashamu was said to have allegedly collected a huge amount of money from prospective aspirants like Dimeji Bankole for the Federal House of Representatives ticket, which hitherto was said to have been won by one Hon. Segun Alawode, Dave Salako, Lekan Mustapha, Muyideen Adegboyega, among others. Not forgetting the accusations of former President Olusegun Obasanjo in his letter to President Goodluck Jonathan recently about the person of Kashamu. In a swift reaction, sources close to Kashamu were quick to disregard the aforesaid, insisting that the choice of Ogundele is enough to show everybody how sincere and transparent Kashamu is. The choice of Ogundele is what is currently causing the uproar.
