One time Foreign Affairs Minister, Chief Ojo Maduekwe, is dead.
Aged 71, he was born on May 6, 1945 in Abia State.
The late Maduekwe was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs on July 26, 2007 by late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua.
Under ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, he also served as Minister of Culture and Tourism. This was in 1999. And in 2001, Minister of Transport, during which he strongly advocated the use of bicycles.
He equally served at some point as the National Secretary of the then ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Details of his death were still unfolding as at the time of writing this. Although one version alleged that he died in the U.S. while getting ready to catch a flight.
Another said it was at his Abuja home and that he had been having issues with his health for sometime now.
