The Entertainment Pillar of the Decade award given to Globacom Chairman, Dr. Mike Adenuga Jr., has been described as well deserving by showbiz stars. The award which was the highest conferred on individuals and corporate bodies was handed to Adenuga at the third anniversary of entertainment publication, Entertainment Express and Sunday Express. For Africa’s most popular singing duo, PSquare, “Dr. Mike Adenuga surely deserves the award as he has contributed immensely to the entertainment industry more than any other person on the African continent. He is a great blessing to anyone who associates with him personally or business-wise. Globacom’s pillar of support to PSquare is a living proof. He is indeed a great pillar to many of us in the industry.” Jude Abaga, popularly called Mr Incredible (M.I), described the honour in these words: “Every great structure is sustained by pillars most times bearing the weight and keeping the structure in place. You (Adenuga) have been that and more and that is why this award has not come to us as a surprise. Congratulations Sir! You are more than deserving of it.” Omawumi Mgbele, the ‘Na Who I Go Ask’ crooner, congratulated Adenuga, enthusing, “it is only ideal that honour should be given to whom it is due. For such a great business man and philanthropist who has contributed so much to promoting the entertainment sector in particular and the Nigerian economy in general, it is only right to applaud the honour.” Popular musician, Sani Musa Danja, in his congratulatory message to the Chairman of Globacom said: “Footprints on the sands of time are not made by sitting down; and there is no one magic move or secret that creates victory, but lots of little items that when added together can make one successful. A lot of things do seem impossible in life, but with the right will and strive as you have demonstrated in all your endeavours, one can make all things possible. It is a great honour and privilege to be associated with an incredible achiever like you. A very hearty congratulations to you on your latest honour as the Entertainment Pillar of the Decade.” Hearty felicitations also came from Ghana with resourceful and highly talented Jackie Appiah leading with a prayer for continuous prosperity and good health for the Pillar of Entertainment. Van Vicker described the honour as another fitting tassel to his (Adenuga’s) heavily bejewelled cap “and I wish him many more fruitful years on the terra firma”. For cultural icon, Sherifa Gunu, Dr. Adenuga “is an intense and deep thinking business tycoon who is not afraid to take risks. Understanding the vital importance of African music which is the food of love, he stepped in and has been supporting us to keep our heads above waters. He is really God’s blessing to the African entertainment community.”
