For the aspiring as well as those that are already property owners inside The Redeemed Christian Church Of God Camp, this may not be the best of news. The church, which is arguably the biggest in terms of landed properties and most populated in Africa, has stated categorically that property owners (land and house) at their Km. 46, Lagos/Ibadan Expressway, Mowe, Ogun State enclave stand to lose them the very day they leave the church for another denomination. The warning which is contained in the terms of purchase of landed properties at the camp also has a condition of 6 months building completion, failing which the land and the building on it would automatically become that of The Redeemed Christian Church of God. One of the site engineers and a pastor in the church, Engr. Seun Adenubi, disclosed to YES INTERNATIONAL! Magazine that you can’t get a plot of land inside RCCG Camp except you apply and the yardstick, among other things, is that you must be a bonafide member who must have been with the church for 4 years. He said: “You must be a regular tither, a constant member for 4 years, with a letter from your Provincial Pastor. Redeemed won’t sell to you unless you meet these requirements. Likewise, one of the rooms must be reserved for missionaries”. The project which is being managed by Haggai Homes, our source told us, goes for N15 million for a 3 bedroom detached flat. The mandatory completion agreement is for 6 months. A room out of the 3 rooms will, however, be given to the missionaries. Pastor Seun said, “Yes! That’s the laid down rules and when the house owner leaves RCCG, the house will be forfeited! Your property is not transferable. If you finish building today and leave RCCG the next day, your property is forgone, no matter how expensive it might be”. Although, he said compensation is inevitable, how soon and the extent of compensation are not yet known or worked out.
RCCG has one of the most respected men alive, Pastor E.A Adeboye, as the General Overseer. The church boasts of more than 50 thousand hectares of land along the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway, stretching from Agunfoye, their host community to part of Ikorodu in the eastern part Lagos State. They are .currently building a 3 kilometer long auditorium which is expected to be completed within a year inside the camp.
