The 14-year-old Bayelsa girl, Ese Oruru, who was rescued from forced marriage some months back (to Dahiru Yinusa, aka Yellow) is now a mother.
She was delivered of a baby girl around 10.15am on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at the Government House Clinic, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
Mother and child are said to be doing okay.
Ese, it would be recalled, was said to have been abducted from Bayelsa State sometime in August 2015 and taken to Kano State, converted to Islam without her parents’ consent.
Upon discovery, many condemned the act, which first led to her being returned to her parents, the shocking discovery that she was already pregnant and then the consequent prosecution of her lover cum husband.
Ironically, while the father of her baby has been in detention since his arrest, Ese has been living at the Police Officers’ Mess in the State capital.
The case meanwhile is still pending at the Federal High Court, Yenagoa, where Dahiru is batting to extricate himself from a 5-count charge bordering on alleged kidnapping, unlawful carnal knowledge, sexual exploitation of a minor, etc.
Granted bail by Justice Ajiya Nganjiwa, but unable to meet the bail conditions, the matter will come up again on Thursday, June 2, 2016.
YES INTERNATIONAL! Magazine gathered interestingly that in spite of the circumstances surrounding the arrival of the baby, both families are very happy. Like one of them told us, ‘We must always give thanks no matter what’.
