The forthcoming senatorial election in Anambra North has begun causing serious palaver among the contenders. Feelers reaching me have it that all those interested in occupying the seat are heavyweights, both in cash and connections, and as such have commenced intense scheming and plotting to triumph on the D-day. From Chief Dubem Obaze, a former Commissioner during Gov. Peter Obi’s administration to Princess Stella Oduah, former Minister of Aviation, Chief Alphonsus Igbeke, a controversial businessman to Mrs. Margery Okadigbo, wife of late Senate President, Dr. Chuba Okadigbo, the battle indeed promises to be tough. Surprisingly, Anambra Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, is allegedly rooting for Igbeke. But based on a rumour that he will step down for him after his tenure to also proceed to the senate like some of his other colleagues.
