How well can God depend on your family to influence other families to rescue your nation? So far, we have examined two critical and fundamental truths and I am glad that we are all beginning to discover the truth about the family system and how vital we are to national development. If the entire world started with a particular family and every nation and tribe started with a family, that should give you a clue to how vital your family is to God’s quest to raise a new kingdom of kings and priests who will make the earth reflect heaven, and that brings me to the third fundamental truth which is:
3. The quality of your family system determines the quality of the society and ultimately the happiness of our world – I once made a statement a month ago at a forum that until everyone becomes responsible to a family system, we would keep producing larger than life leaders who will impoverish the nation because they have never been submissive to any system.
Everything God created was created to be interdependent, but we become out of order the moment we declare independence from God’s established order. Imagine a junction without a traffic light or traffic warden; imagine a state without laws; imagine a nation without a leader and imagine that leader without a people that can call him to order? Chaos and tyranny are produced the moment a man or woman outgrows a system. No man is built to exist without a system and that is why the talent of Messi can take you to the finals of a world cup, but it takes the German system to win the trophy. Unfortunately, Africa is characterized by a one man system who seems to know it all while every other person must obey him and never challenge his lordship and that system is visible from our families to the churches and to the government. Until we build systems that are strong enough and that can checkmate all of us, our world would remain lawless and that is why while you may not agree with everything America stands for, there is a system in place that ensures you can’t misbehave sexually as a leader irrespective of your religious belief.
How strong is your family system?
At the root of every developed country is a system that works and serves her well. Even when a country deviates from her original ethos, the foundation laid by the founding fathers remain intact and it takes a while before the result of their current irresponsibility begins to show. That is why the office of the President of America may never accommodate an adulterer even when there is sexual insanity across the country.
There are different systems that must be in place for a family to function effectively and if you don’t intentionally build these systems, someone somewhere may suffer in silence. So, can you check yourself against some of these systems:
– Governing system – What system of government do you run in your home and how fair is that system? Do you have a functional family vision, core values and a family constitution that guides your conduct? Every sane nation has got a system of government that is clear to all and the family can’t do otherwise.
– Communication system – How free are the citizens of the country called ‘your family’ to express their minds or do they simply keep quiet because they are afraid of what your reaction could be? Is your family so stiff and autocratic that a freedom of speech bill needs to be sponsored because the head is a lion of the tribe of his home?
– Family resource development system – What is your developmental plan for every member of the family and what kind of future do you see for everyone? What price are we paying to deliver that future? At the root of how developed a family and ultimately a nation would be is this particular system and that is why it is one of the most critical systems in the family.
– Economic system – How do we ensure a consistent flow of income and how is it distributed? Is there a plan to secure the future of the family? No sane nation depends on a single resource like oil forever; same way you can’t depend on one person’s income for the rest of your life.
To be continued.
