Christian Association of Nigeria president, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, was not alone in the South African misadventure. His ‘partner’ is Chief Felix Chidi Idiga, who is well known in the social circle, especially in the East. From Amaifeke, near Orlu in Imo State, he is in his 50s and used to run Jafac Motors and Car Accessories Company before he diversified.
At the height of his reign, late Highlife king, Oliver de Coque, sang his praises in one of his greatest hits, Biri ka Mbiri. Idiga’s chieftaincy title is – Akuetuegwu 1 of Amaifeke. Akuetuegwu means one who is not scared of wealth.
One of the powers behind Eagle Air Nigeria, he is also a big time contractor with the Niger Delta Development Commission. Equally very close to the First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, one of his aircraft was arrested in South Africa days back, stuffed with $9.3 million cash, which some people in government in Nigeria claimed they wanted to use to buy arms to battle terrorism. The non-disclosure of the huge amount before it found its way into the country has led to a diplomatic row between Nigeria and South Africa. Besides contravening international laws, it has also brought Nigeria and Oritsejafor who allegedly leased the jet out into opprobrium.
The private jet with N808HG, as its registration number, equally earned Oritsejafor, also the founder of Word of Life Bible Church, Warri, Delta State, enormous flakes after its acquisition. Now, more flakes are coming the preacher’s way, courtesy this latest scandal.
