Wonders, like we say in Nigeria, will never cease.
Arrested kidnap lord and king, Chukwudubem Onwuamadike, aka Evans, says his mother is aware he’s into kidnapping!
Making this shocking disclosure on Sunday, June 11, 2017, while being paraded alongside his gang members at the Lagos State Police Command, the notorious criminal added that the woman warned him against continuing with his devilish act. But he never listened.
Hitherto into motor parts importation, he claimed the Customs seized his goods worth over N25 million, thus he relocated to South Africa where he engaged in drugs selling. He, however, fell out with his partners after some time, fled to Nigeria where after sometime he began operating one of the deadliest and most sophisticated kidnap cartels.
Collecting as much as a million Dollars as ransom from some of his victims, he lived large, acquiring properties in highbrow Magodo, Lagos and even Ghana, until nemesis eventually caught up with him.
Alleged to be 36, his family, made up of his wife and five children, live abroad – in Canada actually. A native of Otolo, in Nnewi North LGA of Anambra State, he is allegedly battling stomach cancer and was planning to flee Nigeria when the police swooped on him.
Six of his gang members – Felix Chinemerem, Nwosu Chikodi Chukwuma, Suoyo Paul, aka Sudo, Ikenna Emeka, aka Nwana, and a couple, Uchechukwu and Ogechi Amadi – had earlier been arrested. It was during investigation and interrogation that they mentioned his name as their capon. Thus all efforts to arrest him were unleashed till it paid off days ago.
Believed to have pocked billions of Naira from his illicit business, Chief Vincent Obianodo, owner of The Young Shall Grow Motors and Rockview Hotel narrowly escaped his dragnet. But not so for others. Some of whom he kept in his hideout for as long as 6 months and till they were able to raise the millions he often demanded.
A very strategic and calculative criminal, none of his gang members knew where he resided. Sheltering most of his victims in Igando, a Lagos suburb, he had two gangs who hardly met during operations. But only got deployed to execute certain assignments whenever the need arises.
Recovered from the deadly gang, revealed the police, are five AK47, an AK 49 rifle, two double barrel long guns, two English pistols, 59 AK47 Magazines with ammunition, 1,272 9mm live AK47 ammunition and five number plates. The successful joint operation, by the way, was carried out by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Anti-Kidnapping Squad of the Lagos Police Command and Technical Intelligence Unit (TIU).
