Slam. Remember him? He’s the gap-toothed, bubbly singer who used to be on Kennis Music label and who also changed the pace of the Nigerian music scene with monster hits such as Ibu Chineke, Dreaming About You and Party On.
Slam’s music is marked by high energy, lyrical depth and top notch production. Plus, his infectious smile and charisma which ensure that the ladies never get enough of him. In fact, they literally drool over him. Well, the singer, whose real name is Udoka Oguamanam, is set to slam us with a new single entitled Sweeter.
Sweeter is a pop reggae dancehall number featuring reggae act, Rymzo. Now, you know what to expect: a slamming hot track that will have you rocking till infinity.
Slam says Sweeter is based on a true life experience. According to him: “I want everybody to always be true to that special someone because when he or she goes, you will realize that, that person is far sweeter than anything you ever had.
“This is a major hit among other hit songs that I will be releasing soon. I am also looking to have a couple of great collaborations as well,” he added.
Following the successful launch of three albums, Slam left Nigeria at the height of his musical career in 2005 to pursue a Masters degree in Marketing in the United Kingdom.
Speaking on the hiatus, he says: “After I returned from the UK, I focused on developing other aspects of myself; though I was involved in several musical projects behind the scene. For instance, I produced sound tracks for top Nollywood movies such as I’ll Take My Chances by Emem Isong; Holding Hope which featured Uche Jumbo; Kiss and Tell by Monalisa Chinda; Okon In Lagos by UduakIsong Oguamanam and many more.”
Slam, at the moment, is collaborating with Covenant Child, the reggae dancehall on-air personality known for his prolific work in propagating reggae dancehall entertainment in Nigeria. He currently runs the affairs of Cs Entertainment Company, owners of Ital Sounds, Dancehall Supremacy and Ital Sounds System. Sweeter is produced by George Nathaniel for S’ Ent. Records.
