In spite of his protest and even the delegation sent to his in-laws, Senator Stella Oduah, still went ahead to bury her son, Maxwell Chinedu Etoromi, in her compound.
This was on Sunday, and at the Oduahs’ beautiful and expansive Buwasville home, in Akili Ozizor, Ogbaru, Anambra State.
Attended by hundreds of people, Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki was represented by Senator Dino Melaye; Anambra Governor, Chief Willie Obiano was represented by his deputy, Dr. Nkem Okeke while the Catholic Archbishop of Onitsha, Most Rev. Valerian Okeke had Rev. Fr. Theo Odukwe, the Episcopal Vicar for Dunukofia Region standing in for him.
The officiating minister was Rev. Fr.Martin Onukwuba, who is also the president of West African Diocesan Priests Association. Maintaining that death should not be seen as the end of life, but rather a transition to another life, he urged all those present to live aright while they are still here. He also urged the Oduahs take heart, knowing full well that God gives and also takes.
The burial proper was handled by Apams, one of the leading undertakers in the east.
Satchie Emmanuel Etoromi, a retired Lt. Col. in the Army and his ex wife, Senator Stella Adaeze Oduah, it would be recalled, have been making front page news for weeks now and following the death of their son, Maxwell, a 28 year old who died in Abuja as a result of wrong administration of drug.
While the father wanted him buried in his compound in Warri, Delta State, the mother felt otherwise. And in spite of attempts by the man to have it his way, the woman ultimately interred her son’s remains in Ogbaru, Anambra State.
The days ahead, said one source to YES INTERNATIONAL! Magazine, will be interesting between Stella and Satchie. ‘So, let’s just keep our fingers crossed’.
