Indeed, it’s different strokes for different folks. In Calabar, Cross River State, for instance, the Governor, Prof. Ben Ayade, has made it mandatory that all his nominees for appointments as Commissioners et al must not only undergo an aptitude and integrity test, but also pass both.
According to his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Christian Ita, the test must be written before their names would be forwarded to the State House of Assembly. Also slated for this test are chairmen and members of boards, agencies and parastatals of the government. Likewise all the Special Advisers.
One of the major reasons for the test, YES INTERNATIONAL! Magazine learnt, is to ascertain their level of competence.
Said Ita:’ His Excellency, Prof. Ben Ayade, wants all the the nominees for appointment as Commissioners to undergo an integrity test. Additionally, the nominees would also write an aptitude test’.
Already, Ayade has set up a team to conduct the competence and integrity test. The members include Barrister Paul Erokoro, chairman; Mr. Martins Orim, his Chief of Staff and Mrs. Grace Ekanem.
