Popular Yoruba actress, Toyin Aimakhu’s former lover, Seun Egbegbe, arrested for serial theft, is still in prison 48 hours after being granted bail.
Egbegbe, arraigned before Justice Oluremi Oguntoyinbo of the Federal High Court in Lagos, was granted bail on Friday, February 24, 2017. Unfortunately, he was yet to perfect the bail terms of N5 million with two sureties each in the sum of N2.5 million as at the time of writing this.
In prison for weeks now, Seun who claims to be a film maker, and one Oyekan Ayomide, were arrested at Gbagada General Hospital, Lagos on February 2 for allegedly trying to fleece some Bureau de Change operators of over N40 million. Days before that, Seun had been arrested and battered at the popular Computer Village in Ikeja while trying to abscond with some expensive phones.
Yet to meet his bail conditions, this is exactly what Justice Oguntoyinbo said he must do before being allowed out of Ikoyi Prison where he’s been living since his arrest:
“One of the sureties must be a civil servant who has attained level 16 while the other surety must be a land owner in any part of Lagos metropolis. The landowner must submit Certificate of Ownership of the landed property and while the civil servant must submit his international passport to the court.
“The sureties must swear to an affidavit while the house and office addresses and telephone numbers will be verified by the court,” the judge added.
