Rev. Sam Adeyemi, the motivational Pastor of Daystar Christian Centre, in Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos, started by focusing on the youths and the middle class. Every of his activity was targeted at the youths. And he won their hearts. Then the youths went and evangelised and won others, including elders to the church.
Daystar initially targeted residents of Oregun, where it is located, and gradually the whole of Ikeja, then Lagos and finally through the electronic and social media, it spread to entire Nigeria and beyond.
Such achievement does not come easy. One is bound to experience challenges on the journey of making your dream happen, but that is where preparation comes in. “A leader of the future”, according to Howard Cooley, “will be rated by his ability to anticipate problems, rather than to meet them as they come.”
That is how strong brands are built. There is always a target, though they start small. Brands, unlike products are created in the mind. A brand is like a reputation for a person, which is earned by trying to do hard things well.
As a leader or an aspiring one, to create a lasting brand is not a one man or one day affair. You have to bring like minds together. People who believe in your cause.
It was Bernard Montgomery who observed that, “Leadership is the capacity and will to rally men and women to a common purpose and the character, which inspires confidence.”
Beloved, what is your target? How do you want to achieve it? What brand have you created that will help in making that target of yours a reality?
Providing answers to these questions may be a step in the right direction.
Now that you know…
Shalom!
