Pops! Concepts had their first Make Up Fair (LMUF) on September 8, 2012. The fair came after the successful Abuja Make Up Fair (AMUF), which took place on May 5, 2012. AMUF was the first in the series of The Make Up Fairs which are designed to hold in several cities and intended to give make up and beauty professionals a great platform from which to conclude business with attendees/visitors by showcasing and demonstrating their products, thereby attracting potential customers. The Creative Director of the company, Omolola Faleye chatted with NNADI DUKE…
Can we meet you?
My name is Omolola Faleye and I am the creative director of Pops! Concepts
How did you come up with this concept? (Make Up Fair)
I am in the makeup industry and I always get people making enquiries about some makeup and beauty brands on where and how to reach them and I thought it would be good idea to bring all of them under one platform whereby Attendees/visitors will have a unique opportunity to meet and interact with makeup brand companies, representatives of makeup brands, Makeup artists, Spa owners, Hair professionals, and other beauty professionals to gather the information they need to make informed purchase decisions, and indeed to purchase products they admire so greatly directly from the exhibitors at the fair at discounted rates.
What’s the purpose of the fair?
The Lagos makeup fair is a makeup and beauty shopping extravaganza and is the second in “the Makeup Fair Series” that is designed to hold in different cities. It provides and gives makeup and beauty professionals a great platform from which to conclude business with attendees/visitors by showcasing and demonstrating their products to potential customers.
We learnt you staged a successful edition in the FCT, how was it?
AMUF had a good turnout as well and from some of the feedback we got it was a welcome concept and they are asking for their next edition.
Why did you make the event free attendance?
It’s a maiden edition as well as a shopping event. We thought it wise to make it free to attend as makeup and beauty shoppers would be making purchases and patronizing our exhibitors.
Was it also free for brand owners?
No it wasn’t free for the exhibitors. They paid for their spaces at the fair
Judging from the turn out, one could say the event was a massive success, what’s your take?
I give all the glory to God who stood by me because LMUF proved more challenging than AMUF but I must say it turned out much more successful and I was quite impressed with the turnout and feedbacks I ve gotten so far. I would give it a 65%
After Abuja and Lagos, where is next?
We will be going back to Abuja for AMUF2 and then we are looking at CMUF (Calabar makeup fair) for Dec by God’s Grace.
What are the challenges noted so far from the two outings?
Both of them have been maiden editions and as you know it’s a bit difficult trying to convince anyone to participate in a maiden edition with a new beauty events company that was my major challenge but as God would have it am glad and grateful to the exhibitors who believed in us and participated.
Where do you see “Make up Fair” in 2/3 years from now?
I see the makeup fair series achieving its purpose of having taken place in different cities of Nigeria and West Africa as well.
Tell us a bit about your family and where you are from.
I am the second in a family of 5 and am from Osun state
