Some popular rib-crackers will on Sunday, March 22, 2015 converge to celebrate children with down syndrome during this year’s Infusion Season 4. The event will hold at Rockview Hotel, Banquet Hall, 23 Road, Festac Town, Lagos, by 3pm. The aim of the show is to create awareness about the fight for children with down syndrome. It will parade notable names in the Nigerian comedy industry like Emeka Smith, a partner in the project, Yaw, Elenu, Seyi Law, Gandoki, Senator, Akpororo, Shakara and Acapella. Amb. Chibuzo Patrick (aka Buzopat), the Public Relations consultant to the foundation, said the project was founded in 2011 to create an avenue for Nigerians to be knowledgeable about down syndrome and to also stop the discrimination against such children.
“The foundation decided to create an unusual avenue with Emeka Smith where good spirited Nigerians can come together to put smiles on the faces of the children while at the same time unwind and laugh in a relaxed atmosphere. Apart from comedy, guests will have the opportunity of knowing more about down syndrome children. They will know why it is a chromosome problem, and how to tackle it. The parents and the care givers will learn the level of passion and humility needed. It is a different way of using ticket to raise fund to help children with multiple holes in heart billed for heart surgeries. It is an advocacy event because with just a ticket, you will touch lives and still go a long way to help them,” she said. Adding, “The Comedy Infusion title came from a well thought out search that will be suitable to create maximum awareness for the children with down syndrome – bridging the gap between celebrities and the children. This innovation makes the kids tremendously happy”.
