When in December, a little unknown boy, Zayo, shared the same stage with Wizkid, Reminisce, Terry G and Wande Coal in a concert in Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos, many were forced to ask who he was. Especially after an electrifying performance. KOGA Entertainment, the record label that facilitated his introduction to the public, has finally answered the question. KOGA, last week, released the first single from the boy who captured our attention late last year. The single which is a remix of Oritsefemi’s Mercy, has also captured the attention of music buffs all over the country. Mercy, produced by Klem, is a remix of Oritsefemi’s song, Mercy. Zayo said he decided to release Mercy first so as to garner enough attention. More so, because Oritsefemi is one of his inspirations. “I am using Mercy to share my story; the story of small beginnings and a rough one before KOGA found me. I heard the beat by DJ Klem and was inspired to write a song on how God’s mercies shone on me”. Zayo became the first artist to be signed on by KOGA Entertainment after emerging winner of the music reality show, Open House. Open House is a reality show initiated by KOGA to discover and nurture new talents. The judges at the reality show were Masterkraft, DJ Klem and Liciouskrackit. Zayo emerged winner among over five thousand contestants. Consequently, the record label signed him and now he is on the verge of releasing his debut album. According to Robert Jeyibo of KOGA Entertainment, “Zayo is a star of the future and we believe in his ability, hence the opportunity offered him. He did very well during the reality show. Now that the world is watching, we believe he will do well. He has the talent and is fortunate to be working with KOGA Entertainment. Zayo is a star you should watch out for”. From Oyo State, the singer is currently studying Mathematics at Tai Solarin University of Education, Ogun State. His real name is Raheem Adeyemi. And he sings afro-pop with a heavy Yoruba rap.
