For the second time in less than two months, the Political Academy of the former Governor of the State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, who happens to be the Chancellor, in conjunction with Gateway Front Foundation, played host to media men in the state for a three-day retreat/summit titled, “Preparing Journalists For Challenges of 2015 Elections”. The event held at the temporary site of the Political Academy, Asoludero Court, Sagamu, Ogun State. The three-day event which started on Friday, March 14 and lasted till March 16, 2014 had lectures from guest speakers like Prof. Ralph Akinfeleye, from the Department Mass Communication, University of Lagos. He spoke on the topic, ‘Media Proprietorship and Journalism Practice in Nigeria: Interest And Conflict’. There was also “Democracy, Accountability And The Role Of The Media”, by Comrade Funke Fadugba and an interactive session with Hon. Ladi Adebutu Kessington. There was equally a mind rubbing session with the former Governor himself, Otunba Gbenga Daniel. At the end of the programme, certificates were issued to all participants and it was suggested that the retreat should be held every quarter to keep them abreast with the evolving communication technology.
