All things being equal, like they say in Economics, the remains of football icon, Stephen Okechukwu Chinedu Keshi, will be interred in his homestead of Ukpologwu Quarters, Illah, Aniocha North LGA of Delta State, on Thursday, July 28, 2016.
Preparations, we learnt, are currently in top gear to ensure that everything goes according to plans. His elder brother, Sylvester, we were told, is in charge of this. But ably supported by other family members.
The Federal Government, Nigerian Football Federation, Delta State Government, Edo State Government, Cross River State Government, the current Super Eagles, led by John Mikel Obi of Chelsea FC and others, are ,however, expected to play active roles in giving Keshi a deserving and heroic burial.
Meanwhile, letters are now being sent out, renovation work going on and this and that also being tidied up in order to ensure that Keshi enjoys a smooth passage.
Mr. Emma Ado, the late footballer and coach’s agent is the family’s link man. And he’s been reaching out to all those concerned.
A father of four, Stephen Keshi died on Tuesday, June 7, in Benin City, Edo State. His sudden and shocking death came barely 6 months after losing his wife of over 30 years, Kate, to cancer.
