Femi Falodun, COO at ID Africa, a Lagos based digital communications agency, was recently honoured with a Digital PR Ambassadorship Certification by the Lagos State Chapter of Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR). The recognition came during the inaugural edition of Lagos NIPR’s Digital Summit, which held October 19 – 20, 2016 at NIM building in VI, Lagos.
The Summit, themed ‘New Media: Public Relations Practice in Networked Communities’, featured a keynote by Mr. Leo Stan Eke, Chairman Zinox Technologies and opening speech by Dr. Rotimi Oladele, the NIPR President.
In his presentation titled ‘Strategies For Online Branding And Reputation Management’, Femi Falodun, using Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton’s 2016 US presidential race as case study, highlighted 10 key factors affecting online reputation as they apply to brands, and how PR professionals can effectively manage these factors for best results.
Femi spoke on how to assess brand perception, search engine optimization (on-page and off-page SEO), and how relevant content with good social footprint impact online reputation for both brands and individuals. He further threw light on the need for effective listening, engagement, as well as how appropriate use of advocates, coupled with positive reviews and testimonials can all work together to improve online reputation. Ultimately, brand consistency and maintenance of the Reputation Management Cycle are necessary for online reputation management.
