Ogun State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Jide Ojuko has commenced a tour of Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) across the State towards ensuring that the newly created LCDAs live up to expectations by impacting positively on the people in their respective domains.

The Commissioner while addressing political office holders and principal career officers at the councils visited in Ogun Central Senatorial District, charged them to expend their monthly grants on people-oriented projects to complement the efforts of the State Government at rebuilding the State.

Ojuko noted that government would continue to support the LCDAs towards ensuring that dividends of democracy were delivered to the nooks and crannies of the State.

‘’The grants given to you by the State government is for you to provide basic needs of your immediate community by fixing their roads, sink boreholes, repair leaking roofs in primary schools as well as maintain the newly constructed roads and to keep the environment clean among others,’’ Ojuko said.

The commissioner reiterated that for the impact of government to be felt at the local level, the Local Heads must think out of the box, adding the issue of Internally Generated Revenue must be looked into while a committee to help boost revenue of the Local Councils must be ready to work round the clock for better output.

Appreciating the former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo for contributing immensely to the smooth take-off of Coker/Ibogun LCDA by making available a building for its secretariat, Ojuko noted that it was an indication of his commitment towards the success of the Senator Ibikunle Amosun led-administration.

In their separate remarks, the Chairmen of Coker Ibogun, Hon. Juwon Gbadebo, Ewekoro North, Hon. Kehinde Adepegba and Abeokuta South East LCDAs, Mrs Simisola Onajin, commended the Commissioner and his team for the visit, pledging their commitment to move their respective councils forward.
